Our Shop is located next to the White Horse pub. It is staffed by friendly local volunteers, with a paid part-time coordinator.
It stocks locally sourced goods such as home-grown vegetables, delicatessen items, baked goods from a local craft bakery and, of course, bottled beers and ciders produced by five breweries within a five mile radius.
Note: Times may occassionally be subject to change according to volunteer availability.
We are happy to take deliveries to the doorstep for vulnerable and self-isolating villagers - see how to place your order below.
The shop was visited in February 2016 by His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales, Patron of the Pub is the Hub and the Prince's Countryside Fund.
The Upton Community Shop remains open as usual, and we are delighted to have been able to fill the shifts left vacant by those most vulnerable volunteers who are now self-isolating in line with government directives. This means we will try our best to stay open with the existing trading hours, but these may vary on a daily basis according to volunteer support availability.
We are also very pleased to announce that all our suppliers have agreed to deliver direct to the shop which again means we are not putting staff at risk in travelling to make stock purchases.
Regarding deliveries, we will ensure the most vulnerable and self-isolating villagers take priority. We are also working on dedicated morning and afternoon time slots.
When visiting the shop, we ask all customers to respect the new ‘social distancing’ guidelines and you will see we have made special distancing entrance and exit procedures. It is really important that we serve one customer at a time! The shop is a small space and therefore we cannot have several customers browsing or being served at any one time.
We may not be as big as Waitrose or Tesco and we may not have foie gras or quails eggs, but we DO have a great range of all your basic items.
Please choose from the categories below and we will tell you what brands we have:
All items are subject to availability
If there are any products you would like us to try and source for you please tell us.
Please bear with us to begin with - it's as new to us as it is to you!
The shop opened on the 14th April 2014, with the support of rural pub champions Pub is The Hub and funding from Norfolk County Council, Broadland District Council and Upton with Fishley Parish Council.
